Chardonnay 'Father's Eyes' Di Lenardo 2025

The Chardonnay "Father's Eyes" from the Di Lenardo winery is one of those whites that can refute the popular belief of 'simple whites'. "Father's Eyes", with such a personalized name, could only be otherwise, is indeed a Chardonnay of depth,  deep, complex, capable of providing emotions for its unexpected characteristics. It originates in Friuli, in the province of Udine. Here Massimo Di Lenardo, the owner of the winery, creates fine wines from a sophisticated territory like that of Collio. With a tradition of winemakers dating back to the 1800s, Massimo has been vinifying since 1987. And it is since then that he has been working towards enhancing the territory and its potential.

"Father's Eyes" is a pure Chardonnay that comes from vineyards with extremely mineral soils. This area is strongly influenced by the Adriatic Sea, as it enjoys the protection of the Alpine arch. It is all these particularities that, combined together, manage to to give a place of exceptional winemaking vocation to finesse. The grapes are hand-harvested and transported to the winery, where they are gently pressed and transformed into must.  The maceration and alcoholic fermentation phase takes place partially in new American oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation occurs partially. Similarly, a part of the wine ages inside new American oak barrels, in contact with its fine lees for a period of about 4 months.

Di Lenardo Chardonnay "Father's Eyes" presents a straw yellow color with golden reflections to enhance it. The nose recalls sweet notes of acacia honey, chamomile flowers, ripe yellow fruit, and a hint of vanilla spice, with an intriguing smoky note in the finish. On the palate, it is intense and enveloping, endowed with an excellent body and a mineral trail in perfect balance. A white rich in personality and great expressive strength.
