Collio Bianco 'Solarco' Livon 2023
The Collio Bianco "Solarco" is a white wine of good intensity made from Friulano and Ribolla Gialla grapes, vinified and matured for 6 months in Allier barrique and steel. Fruity on the nose, with notes of exotic fruit and yellow flowers, it reveals softness, balance, and excellent freshness on the palate.
The Collio Bianco “Solarco” is one of the wines from the cru line of the Livon winery, one of the highest expressions of the different terroirs that make up the Collio area. It is made from Friulano and Ribolla Gialla grapes sourced from vineyards located in Ruttars in the municipality of Dolegna del Collio, in soils predominantly composed of marl and clay, trained in guyot and cappuccina methods.
The production process of the Collio Bianco “Solarco” begins with the harvest that reflects the particularly careful and selective work carried out by the winery. The grapes are harvested strictly by hand, and then cold macerated for eight hours. Once the must is decanted, it is fermented 20% in Allier barriques and 80% in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. After fermentation, the resulting liquid is racked and left to mature in the same containers for six months at a constant temperature. At the end of this period, the wine is blended and bottled to undergo an additional period of aging in bottle.
The Solarco by Livon has a brilliant straw-yellow color, with greenish reflections. The aromas are direct: they evoke notes of citrus and exotic fruit, a light crust of bread, and slight hints of vanilla from the barrique aging. On the palate, it is quite broad and energetic, fine and consistent with the nose, and endowed with great freshness and sapidity. It is an elegant wine that pairs well with white meats, risottos, and soups based on shellfish, first courses seasoned with vegetables and salted fish.
