Dolcetto d'Alba Fratelli Alessandria 2024
Exclusive wineryThe Dolcetto d'Alba by Fratelli Alessandria is an excellent classic wine with an easy drinkability, perfect for sipping throughout the meal. Characterized by fruity notes of raspberry, red beet, and currant, it pairs wonderfully with typical dishes from Piemonte, thanks to its smooth, fresh, and pleasantly tannic texture
The Dolcetto d'Alba from the Fratelli Alessandria winery, an important producer from Verduno, is a pleasantly immediate, easy, and simple version of this historic Piedmontese grape variety, which has almost disappeared in the Langhe in favor of the more renowned and sought-after Nebbiolo. The Fratelli Alessandria estate, on the other hand, in addition to giving space to the rare local grape variety Pelaverga, has preserved the best Dolcetto vineyards to keep alive the memory of the tradition of good everyday medium-bodied red wine, fragrant and fruity, which offers a wide range of food pairings.
The red Dolcetto d'Alba from Fratelli Alessandria fits into the corporate philosophy of this historic winery in Verduno, which alongside some prestigious Barolo versions, offers pure labels of the main grape varieties of the area. The Dolcetto grapes come from the estate vineyards: Boscatto, Cristiani, Sotto Orti, Semolini, cultivated in the municipal territory of Verduno at an altitude ranging from 250 to 370 meters above sea level, with a predominant westward exposure. The vines have an average age of about 35 years and are planted on medium-textured soils, of a calcareous nature with the presence of silt. The harvest is carried out manually during the second half of September, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, using indigenous yeasts and a one-week skin maceration. The wine matures for about 6 months in cement or steel tanks before being bottled.
The Dolcetto d'Alba wine from Fratelli Alessandria is made with a gentle and rather short extraction, so as not to weigh down the wine and keep the fruity aromas in the foreground. Visually, it presents itself with a bright ruby color, with slight violet reflections that betray its youth. On the nose, it is characterized by a bouquet that mainly highlights the fragrant fruity notes of ripe cherry, red currant, marasca, hints of iris, violet, and delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it has a medium structure, with a dense but fine tannic texture and a pleasantly rich and juicy fruit. The finish is balanced and has good persistence, with a pleasantly almond-like finish.
