DOGLIANI 'SAN LUIGI' QUINTO CHIONETTI 2021 DESCRIPTION

Dogliani "San Luigi" from the Quinto Chionetti winery is a red wine with a fragrant and fruity profile, still made with great craftsmanship and according to the oldest customs of the area. Vineyards cultivated in very suitable areas and careful vinification allow to appreciate the authentic face of Dolcetto. It is a label that bluntly and directly expresses the personality of this ancient Piedmontese grape variety, particularly loved for its immediate gustatory pleasantness and ductility at the table. Simple and with generous fruit, it pairs very well with pasta dishes with meat sauces, baked pastas, and roasted white meats.

The red Dogliani "San Luigi" comes from a historic winery in the area. The Quinto Chionetti winery was founded in the early 1900s and today manages a 15-hectare property, cultivated under organic farming. The Dolcetto vineyards are located in the San Luigi area and are characterized by the presence of soils of the Lequio formation, soils of ancient marine origin, which were formed about 10 million years ago. The slow sedimentation of clays, silts, microorganism shells and sands created marls that were then compacted. Today the subsoil has alternating layers of light marls, alternating with sands and sandstones, with an important component of limestone. The harvest takes place in coso of September and the grapes are vinified in red, with a traditional maceration on the skins lasting a couple of weeks. The wine matures for about a year in cement tanks and large oak barrels before being bottled without filtering.

The Dogliani wine "San Luigi," produced by Quinto Chionetti's Piedmontese winery, is a fine version of the territory's classic red, young and fruity, the noble heir to the everyday wine that was never missing from Piedmontese tables. To the eye it has a dark ruby red color with luminous violet reflections. The nose expresses all the typicality of the grape variety, with aromas of ripe cherry, black cherry, red plum, plum, small dark berry fruits and delicately spicy hints. The palate is medium-bodied, with a dense tannic texture well integrated with soft, rich and ripe fruit, The finish is balanced and of good persistence.
