Very elegant, on the nose it expresses notes of red fruit and plum, accompanied by pleasant spicy nuances due to the long aging in wood, while on the palate it offers a full and enveloping sip, supported by fine and soft tannins that provide a finish of great persistence. A warm, intense, and significant wine, with great evolutionary potential - it can be left in the cellar for over 10 years to best develop all its depth.
The Domaine de l'A Rouge Dereroncourt is the result of the long experience of one of the most famous winemakers in the world. After a long career as a consulting oenologist between Bordeaux and Napa Valley, Stéphane Derenoncourt decided to create his own personal project, choosing an area not far from Saint-Èmilion. Thanks to his experience and deep knowledge of the territory, he has managed to bring his wines to a level of absolute excellence in just a few years, making it an essential reference for all lovers of Bordeaux blends.
Domaine de l'A Rouge by Stéphane Dereroncourt is born within the Appellation Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, on a ten-hectare estate, managed according to biodynamic practices and with full respect for the environment. As per the tradition of the area, the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grape varieties are cultivated, particularly suited for soils composed of fine clays mixed with limestone flakes, resting on a substrate of friable limestone. The clay provides structure and the limestone contributes to giving finesse and freshness. The wine is born from a selection of the best parcels of the estate, which are about 35 years old. The harvest is manual and the best bunches are fermented in wooden vats with a maceration on the skins of about a month. The wine matures for 18 months in French oak barriques, 40% new and 60% first passage, and completes its aging in the bottle.
Domaine de l'A Rouge produced by Stéphane Dereroncourt illustrates very well the philosophy of the estate, perfectly embodied by the inimitable style of the famous French oenologist, who always aims to blend power and finesse, harmony and elegance, without neglecting longevity. In the glass, it presents a dark garnet red color with bright ruby reflections. Intense and rich, it opens with notes of blackcurrant, blueberry, ripe cherry, red-fleshed plum, notes of vanilla and soft spices, hints of tobacco and noble woods. Broad and structured, it has a mature and evolved tannic texture well integrated with expressive and dense fruit, which gives the sip a remarkable taste persistence.
