Bartolo Mascarello's Barolo is an oenological monument of Piedmont, an indisputable landmark. It is a traditional Barolo of the highest level, matured for 32 months in large barrels, with old-world charm and a rich, robust, intense and complex personality, masterfully embodying the historical memory of the territory
Mascarello Barolo embodies the historical memory of Langhe and is produced in the legendary winery in Via Roma 15, in the town of Barolo, which during the 1900s was a meeting point for intellectuals, political activists and wine enthusiasts. Today, this label, which Maria Teresa continues to produce with the same respect for the traditions and culture of the place as her father Bartolo, represents the very quintessence of the great reds of the Langhe, according to a style that has never succumbed to the lure of modernity and that has confirmed itself over the decades as splendidly and stubbornly traditionalist, even when fashions and easy profits induced producers to satisfy traditional tastes and support the use of barrique.
Bartolo Mascarello's Barolo fascinates wine lovers all over the world for its fidelity to a traditional style that has become very rare and has almost disappeared: a rigorous, austere and elegant wine, shy in its youth but ever-growing in terms of aromas and taste after a long aging in the bottle, until it reaches unparalleled qualitative heights and a complex and profound shape, rich in nuances and with great momentum. The grapes used for the production of this historic and legendary label come from just 3 hectares included in some of the most important crus of Langhe, including San Lorenzo, Cannubi and Rocche vineyards, and are vinified all together in concrete tanks, as per the oldest Piedmontese tradition. Aging then takes place for 32 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Mascarello Bartolo's Barolo has become famous not only for its old-world charm combined with an impeccably austere profile but also for an uncommon aging capacity that can extend for several decades. It has deep and complex aromatic tones with hints of ripe fruit, black fruit, spices and dried flowers. On the palate it is firm and textural, but also fresh and slender, supported by fine and elegant tannic texture. This splendid bottle, which carries with it all the poignancy of Mascarello's production philosophy, has become an indispensable classic for llovers of great reds thanks to its ability to express in every different vintage and in an integral and authentic way the wide and complex territorial expressiveness of the Langhe.
