White '448 slm' Girlan 2024
White ‘448 slm’ is a simple, fresh and mineral white wine from South Tyrol, offering great balance, harmony and pleasantness. Aromas of ripe white fruit, flowers, peach and apricot follow one another and accompany a soft, dry and elegant palate
Girlan's White "448 SLM" is produced in Cornaiano in the province of Bolzano, in the beautiful setting of the South Tyrolean mountains. The winery was founded in 1923 in a historic farmhouse dating back to the 16th century: 23 winegrowers shared a common project and laid the foundations for the current winery under the guidance of Johann Kofler Krautschneider. Between 1961 and 1980, the Spitaler family's oenologists began experimenting and observing the performance of the vineyards and the yield of the vines, giving rise to a range of products of impeccable quality: in 1980, Trattmannhof Mazon Pinot Noir was marketed for the first time. As production expanded, the winery building was enlarged in 2016, giving it a modern architectural style that is still in keeping with the tradition of the land. Today, the winery has more than 200 winegrowers with the same number of hectares of land entirely planted with vines.
The vineyards of Girlan's White "448 SLM" are located 448 metres above sea level, hence the name of this product. The winery's historic vineyards are used for production, growing on soil mainly composed of minerals deposited during the Ice Age. Attention to nature and sustainability in the vineyard is very important: the soil is fertilised by sowing legumes, organic fertilisers are used and irrigation is controlled using drip systems. The grapes are harvested manually and gently pressed in the winery. It ferments in steel and is aged in steel for several months.
The colour of Girlan's White "448 SLM" is straw yellow with bright reflections; the nose releases aromas of ripe white fruit such as pear and peach, and the finish has notes of white summer flowers. On the palate, it is fine, elegant and enveloping with good freshness that invites you to drink glass after glass. It is recommended with shellfish and mollusc starters, elaborate fish soups and grilled fish; it is also interesting with seasonal vegetable dishes and fresh cow's milk cheeses. Produced for the table when meeting up with old friends to enjoy a drinkable wine with authentic flavours.
