CHIANTI CLASSICO ROCCA DI CASTAGNOLI 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Chianti Classico by Rocca di Castagnoli is a red wine that combines the freshness and fruity richness typical of young Sangiovese. The ideal ageing in wood, which does not blur the varietal character of the grapes, helps to enrich its complexity, making the tannins softer and velvety. It is a bottle that gives immediate pleasure and demonstrates extraordinary ductility at the table. It goes very well with first courses with meat or game sauces, with spit-roasted or roast poultry and more generally with roast white meats.

Rocca di Castagnoli's Chianti Classico is the creature of an estate with ancient traditions, producing wines with a classic profile. Rocca di Castagnoli is located in the marvellous hilly area of Gaiole in Chianti and manages a vast estate of 850 hectares, about 90 of which are devoted to viticulture. The Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes come from a selection of various plots of land, located around the medieval fortress of the village of Castagnoli. The vines are cultivated at an altitude between 420 and 550 metres above sea level, on limestone soils, with abundant presence of 'alberese'. At the end of the harvest, which generally takes place at the beginning of October, the grapes are then fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 28 °C, with maceration on the skins for about ten days. The wine matures for 12 months in wooden barrels, then for three months in steel vats and ends its ageing with 6 months in the bottle.

Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico is a fine version of the most typical and characteristic red wine of Tuscany. It is the pure expression of the terroir that has made this region, one of ancient and noble origins, famous throughout the world, also thanks to the excellence of Sangiovese. Bright and brilliant ruby red in colour, it expresses a bouquet characterised by fragrant fruity notes of ripe cherries, redcurrants, morello cherries, floral nuances of violets and delicate spicy hints. The sip is agile and smooth, with a subtle tannic texture and rich, satisfying fruitiness, anticipating a pleasantly harmonious finish of beautiful freshness.
