Primitivo Dolce Naturale di Manduria "Madrigale" is a traditional specialty of the Produttori di Manduria winery, made from a late harvest of grapes from the estate's oldest vineyards. A sweet red particularly suited to accompany bitter cocoa or dark chocolate desserts, perhaps garnished with berries. The bouquet is of great aromatic richness, broad and complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, jam and oriental spices. The sip is warm, dense and smooth, with enveloping and very persistent aromas.
"Madrigale" is a Natural Sweet Primitivo that highlights well the predisposition of Primitivo grapes to drying and winemaking with a high sugar content. The grapes come from vineyards that have an average age of more than 80 years, raised according to the ancient "alberello" method, with a density of 5000 plants per hectare and a yield that does not exceed 40 quintals/ha. Thanks to the presence of numerous old vines within the vast estate of Produttori di Manduria, only the best grapes are selected each year and excellent wine is always produced. The Primitivo variety, which takes its name from its early ripening towards the end of August, is harvested in mid-September to produce Dolce Naturale, in order to have overripe grapes with a high degree of sugar concentration. Fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature, and the wine matures for about six months in steel tanks before being bottled. It finishes its aging with a few months in the cellar before release.
Primitivo Dolce "Madrigale" brings to the glass all the sunshine and warmth of the generous land of Puglia. A red to be savored in company, giving voluptuous pleasure and an intense taste experience, unique in its kind. In the goblet, it has a deep red color with purple hues. The nose opens on aromas of morello cherry, ripe red fruit, jammy dark berry fruits, spicy, toasted and herbal notes of the Mediterranean bush. The palate is warm and harmonious, persuasive and rich, with soft fruit aromas and a silky, evolved tannic texture. The finish is of great flavor balance and very persistent.
