Rebula Mlecnik 2015

The Rebula from the Slovenian winery Mlecnik is a white wine with an intense and complex profile. The Ribolla Gialla rests on the skins for 4 days before being fermented with indigenous yeasts and before spending two years in wooden barrels. After the long aging, the wine rests bottled in the cellar for 3 years. An rustic sip with reminiscent of peach in syrup and candied hints, that goes well with a plateau of blue cheeses

REBULA MLECNIK 2015 DESCRIPTION

Mlecnik’s Rebula is a Slovenian Ribolla Gialla that amazes for its ability to combine expressive richness and dynamic profile. The Mlecnik family has been involved in viticulture since the beginning of the 19th century and today operates in a historic seventeenth-century farm located near the village of Dorimbergo, just 12 kilometers from the border with Italy. All rows are grassy and in the vineyard is excluded the use of synthetic chemicals as established by the principles of organic farming, certified since 2005. Moreover, the low yields of grapes per hectare allow to obtain grapes at the perfect degree of ripeness, of extraordinary aromatic concentration.

Mlecnik Rebula is a 100% Ribolla Gialla bred on soils rich in marl, clays and karst rocks. The plants are grown biologically at an altitude between 50 and 100 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested by hand in full ripeness and then transferred to the cellar, where indigenous yeasts operate alcoholic fermentation accompanied by 4 days of maceration on the skins, without temperature control. After the fermentation process, the mass is placed in oak barrels for the prolonged maturation of 24 months. Throughout the process the liquid is not subjected to any clarification or filtration and no wine processing aids are used.

The Slovenian Mlecnik Rebula reveals a sunny amber yellow hue. The nose alternates citrus scents, notes of yellow fruit and hints of peach in syrup, enriched by pleasant hydrocarbon mineral perceptions. Intense and straight taste, elegant and complex, with lively freshness and firm flavor. The finish, delicately tannic, insists on mineral sensations and ripe fruit.
