Etna Bianco Sciàre dell'Alba 2022

Etna Bianco Sciàre dell'Alba is a fresh, fragrant white wine made on the eastern slopes of Etna from Carricante and Catarratto, native white grape varieties. With notes of orange blossom, broom and tropical fruit, on the palate it is quilibrato, flowing, and characterized by a distinct savoriness due to the terroir and soil on which the vines grow, of volcanic origin, this wine lends itself well to pairing with fish dishes or fresh summer dishes

ETNA BIANCO SCIÀRE DELL'ALBA 2022 DESCRIPTION

Etna Bianco Sciàre dell'Alba is the limpid and pure expression of one of Italy's finest terroirs for the production of great white wines. Made from a majority percentage of Carricante, the volcano's typical grape variety, to which is added a balance of Catarratto, it offers the pleasure of a taut and dynamic taste that combines the characteristic freshness of mountain wines with the sunny maturity of the Mediterranean. A perfect marriage that stems from a contrast of complementary elements, skilfully fused by a unique terroir. Floral, citrusy and pleasantly fruity, it wins you over from the first sip. Perfect to enjoy with seafood first courses or with fish cooked in a simple and delicate way.

Etna Bianco Sciàre dell'Alba wine is the meeting point of the sparkling wine experience accumulated in Franciacorta by Elisabetta Abrami and the Urzì family's profound knowledge of the Etnean territory. The project began in 2009 with a small estate of just a few hectares, currently undergoing conversion to organic farming. The Carricante and Catarratto grapes come from a few plots located on the eastern slope of the volcano at an altitude between 500 and 600 metres above sea level. The soils composed of sand and volcanic rocks, combined with a mild climate characterised by important temperature swings between sunny days and cold nights, have for centuries provided the ideal habitat for the local indigenous grape varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand in October and the bunches are pressed very softly to extract only the free-run juice. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine matures for a few months on the fine lees in steel tanks before being bottled.

Etna Bianco Sciàre dell'Alba is a wine of decisive character that leaves no room for easy softness. It is already ready and satisfying, but will reach its full expressive maturity after a couple of years of bottle ageing. To the eye, it is a pale straw yellow with bright, brilliant reflections. The olfactory profile is fine and subtle, with scents of orange blossom, acacia flowers, notes of lemon peel, grapefruit, fragrant aromas of white-fleshed fruit, tobacco peach, nuances of medicinal herbs. Taut and vertical, it lengthens decisively with delicate, citrusy aromas, leading to a savoury finish with remarkable mineral freshness.
