The Fleurie ‘Patte du P’tit Chat’ is a label with a full and balanced soul produced in Beaujolais by Guillaume Chanudet. The Fleurie subzone is among the 10 crus of Beaujolais and is considered one of the most suitable along with Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon, subzones with which it borders. Its name comes from that of the municipality around which the production area develops and effectively reflects the distinctly floral character of the wines made here. The winery of Guillaume Chanudet is located right in Fleurie, a territory that the Chanudet family has cultivated since 1920. Guillaume took over the family legacy at a young age and is establishing himself as one of the talents to watch in the area. The expression “patte du p’tit chat”, the name of this bottle, translates as “cat's paw”, an element also depicted on the label.
Guillaume Chanudet Fleurie ‘Patte du P’tit Chat’ is made from only Gamay grapes grown organically on granite-rich soils. The vines are approximately 60years old and are trained using the traditional bush system. Once ripe, the hand-harvested bunches are vinified whole with semi-carbonic maceration and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in cement tanks thanks to the sole intervention of the yeasts present on the grapes and in the winemaking environment. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is transferred to neutral oak barrels for 8 months of aging before bottling and final marketing.
The Fleurie of Guillaume Chanudet ‘Patte du P’tit Chat’ has a bright ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of bramble flowers and red fruits such as cherry and plum follow, accompanied in the finish by a light spiciness and hints of bitter almond. Full, juicy, and enveloping on the palate, pleasantly tannic and with excellent persistence.
