GEVREY CHAMBERTIN PREMIER CRU 'BEL AIR' PHILIPPE CHARLOPIN-PARIZOT 2018 DESCRIPTION

Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru "Bel Air" by Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot is a prestigious label. It gives the thrill of savoring a great Pinot Noir, the fruit of a vineyard excellently positioned in the southern area of Gevrey Chambertin, the famous hamlet that is home to no fewer than 9 of the most famous Grand Crus in the Côte de Nuits. The estate makes bottles with a classic face, following ancient traditions, trying to intervene as little as possible so that the wines are direct and authentic expressions of each individual terroir. This explains the Domaine's wide range of proposals, each highlighting the specific peculiarities of a particular vineyard: careful and meticulous work, based on a deep knowledge of the place.

Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot's "Bel Air" Premier Cru Gevrey Chambertin is the fruit of the careful work of a family business that owns a precious mosaic of vineyards in some of the best terroirs of the Côte d'Or. The grapes come only from a small parcel located in the most prized area of the Gevrey Chambertin commune, right on the border of the legendary Grand Cru of Clos de Bèze, Napoleon's favorite. The area enjoys excellent east-facing exposure at an altitude of about 250-280 meters above sea level. The soils are shallow, composed of limestone and limestone marl rich in marine fossils, resting directly on the parent rock. At the end of manual harvesting, with selection of the best bunches, classic red fermentation is carried out. The wine then matures for about a year in French oak barrels.

Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot's Premier Cru Gevrey Chambertin "Bel Air" is a very interesting label, born in one of the Appellation's most highly rated Premier Cru and offering quality of the highest level. In the glass it is ruby red in color with light garnet reflections. The olfactory picture is complex d elegant with floral nuances of violet, delicate hints of licorice root, subtle spicy notes, enveloped by aromas of red currant, raspberry and wild strawberries. Harmonious and intense, it has a sip of refined finesse, long and balanced, anticipating a pleasantly fresh finish with good flavor persistence. A great red, to be tasted after a few years of aging in the cellar, to appreciate its splendid tertiary evolutions.
