Grillo 'Mozia' Tasca d'Almerita 2025
The Grillo from Mozia by Tasca d’Almerita is a rich and fragrant white wine: a beautiful expression of the ancient Phoenician island of Mozia. It emanates aromas of flowers, citrus, aromatic herbs, and white pepper. The sip is fresh, expressive, and territorial, with mineral and marine sapidity. It pairs well with flavorful fish dishes.
The Grillo di Mozia is born in the Whitaker Estate of Tasca d'Almerita, on the small island of Mozia, within the Stagnone Nature Reserve of Marsala. An area rich in history and culture, which preserves the archaeological remains of the first Phoenician settlements. The sandy soils, rich in limestone and the proximity of the salt pans, create a fascinating and unique habitat for the vine. The estate on the island of Mozia extends over eight hectares cultivated with bush vines, which produce a Grillo where the ripe fruit meets the savory and briny notes of the sea, creating a blend of great personality, a true expression of a unique terroir.
The vineyards of the Grillo di Mozia from the Whitaker Estate naturally produce with low yields, ensuring grapes characterized by a remarkable aromatic concentration. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, lasting about 15 days. The wine always matures in stainless steel in contact with the fine lees for about 5 months before being bottled.
Tasca d'Almerita produces a unique Grillo in Mozia with an unmistakable profileunmistakable, strongly characterized by the position of the vineyards, cultivated between the salt pans and the sea. In the glass, it presents a straw yellow color, bright and luminous. The bouquet is rich and multifaceted, with floral aromas, notes of lime and citrus, fruity hints, and iodine notes that recall the sea breeze. The sip is characterized by a savory freshness, with juicy and persistent notes of ripe yellow fruit, which fade into a pleasantly briny finish.
