
'Il Sogno' Travaglini 2019
"Il Sogno" from the well-known Travaglini winery is a full-bodied Nebbiolo from one of the most renowned areas in northern Piedmont: Gattinara. The grapes are selected directly on the vine and then left to dry for at least 100 days. This red wine is aged for about 36 months in large barrels and 6-8 months in smaller wood barrels, thus obtaining a garnet red colour. The aromas released are those of ripe red fruit and spices, while the taste is warm, full, enveloping, mineral and with an unforgettable finish
“Il Sogno”, produced by the Travaglini winery, is a prestigious label created with the desire to make a great wine dedicated to fans of reds in the Amarone style. It is a wine that comes from dried Nebbiolo grapes, vinified with extreme care to extract all the aromatic richness. The long aging period in wood softens the tannins and enhances the dense complexity of the wine, enriching it with a range of elegant tertiary notes. It is a red of great body and structure, intense and enveloping, excellent to taste even on its own as a conversation wine for a pleasant after-dinner among friends.
The red “Il Sogno” is born in one of the most famous wineries in Alto Piemonte. Travaglini manages an estate of about 60 hectares in the Gattinara area. The vineyards are located at an altitude of about 400 meters, on the hilly slopes at the foot of Monte Rosa. The cool and breezy climate, the sunny exposures facing south, and the very ancient volcanic origin, rich in iron minerals, have always proven to be a perfect habitat for Nebbiolo.always proven to be a perfect habitat for Nebbiolo. The grapes are carefully selected in the vineyard one week before harvest, choosing only the healthiest and ripest. The bunches are placed on racks and dried in special rooms with perfect temperature and humidity for a slow and natural dehydration, for a period of about three months. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Before bottling, the wine matures for 36 months in 20-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels and for 6-8 months in small oak barrels.The wine “Il Sogno” by Travaglini is a Piedmontese red made with an eye towards the hills and the tradition of Valpolicella.
