"Lorano" is an expressive and intense Sangiovese of the Piceno area, obtained by fermentation with indigenous yeasts and by an aging of about 12 months in barrique. The result is a pleasant and rich red wine, with a fine tannin and a strong sea freshness, characterized by aromas of wild berries, rosemary, coffee and tobacco.

“Lorano” is an expression of elegance, power, balance and exaltation of a grape, the Sangiovese, which, thanks to the organic management of the vineyards by the winery, is free to express itself to the fullest of its potential. A bottle with which Maria Pia Castelli confirms to be one of the most interesting production realities of the Marche terroir, thanks to an approach that combines tradition and innovation. A red of character and personality, which pairs well in the kitchen with first courses dressed with meat sauces and mixed grills.

The red “Lorano” is made from pure grapes of a variety that has always been able to produce important wines, the Sangiovese. The vines of this variety have an average age of about 20 years, and their roots sink into a clayey terroir, rich in iron components. The vineyards, located about 200 meters above sea level, are managed by the team at Maria Pia Castelli winery following principles of organic farming. The grapes, once harvested during the harvest, ferment, thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts, 50% of the mass in steel and the remaining part in wood, also carrying out malolactic fermentation. Then we move on to the aging phase, in which the wine first rests for 12 months in barrique, and then, after bottling, for another 18 months in glass.

The wine 'Lorano' appears, in the glass, with a typically ruby color. The array of aromas that follow one another on the nose moves through a progression of notes that, from fruity, leads towards aromatic herbs and sweet spices, derived from maturation in wood. On the palate, it is well-structured, broad and round, with a sip characterized by a noticeable tannic grip and a pleasant fresh vein. A bottle with which the winery Maria Pia Castelli interprets one of the most important red grape varieties in the entire Italian ampelographic landscape, Sangiovese.
