Callmewine's Favourites"Revolution" is a fresh and juicy Malbec from the Lot Valley, in Occitania, a red wine produced by Oenosapiens, the "itinerant" winery of three young Italian winemakers: Filippo, Federico, and Giacomo. It is made with a short maceration at low temperatures and an aging of 6 months in steel, resulting in a wine that preserves the lively and jovial spirit of the grape, with a pleasant fragrance of floral and slightly spicy aromas.
With a fruity and pleasantly spicy character, the Malbec 'R-Evolution' represents the first fruit of the recent winemaking project Oenosapiens, enthusiastically started by three young Italian winemakers Filippo, Federico, and Giacomo. The Oenosapiens idea originates from the desire of the three winemakers to enhance wine-growing excellences and small producers from lesser-known denominations, always in the name of environmental and productive sustainability. In particular, the 'R-Evolution' is born in the Valle de Lot, in Cahors, an area of excellence for the Malbec grape.
The Malbec 'R-Evolution' from the Oenosapiens winery is made exclusively from Malbec grapes sourced from vines about 30 years old grown on alluvial soils, primarily composed of clay, silica, iron, and limestone rocks. When the grapes have reached full ripeness, harvesting and red winemaking take place in stainless steel tanks, with alcoholic fermentation entrusted exclusively to indigenous yeasts, accompanied by 10-12 days of skin maceration at low temperature, in the range of 20-25 °C. The subsequent maturation period of about 6 months also takes place in steel before bottling and final commercialization.
Visually, the Oenosapiens 'R-Evolution' Malbec presents itself with a violet-red color. The nose offers fascinating hints of violet, blueberry, and blackberry, enriched by perceptions of black and pink pepper. Juicy and delicate on the palate, with soft tannins and a pleasant freshness that gives dynamism and vitality. Due to its exceptional agility and smoothness, this artisanal red wine is an ideal pairing with platters of aged cheeses and cured meats, white meats, or flavorful first courses.
