The Nerello Mascalese 'Nzemmula' by Bruno Ferrara Sardo is the only wine, so far, from this small winery. All the vines are old, one of the great virtues of Etna, where vines stay healthy for decades. The production, which is artisanal, takes place in the contrada of Allegracore, where Bruno vinifies the Nerello exclusively in steel. This allows the nerello, an intense and fine grape by nature, to maintain great freshness of aromas and tension on the palate. On the nose there are typical hints of red fruits, saltiness and stone, the classic traits of the volcano, but also Mediterranean herbs. The palate is rich, fresh, the sip is deep and meditative. Rustic yet elegant, a truly emotional combination

sulfur in the fight against pests. After the harvest, which is carried out strictly by hand, the grapes are vinified in red through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by 15 days of contact between the must and the skins. The subsequent maturation phase also takes place in steel and the wine is finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration.

To the eye, Bruno Ferrara Sardo’s Nerello Mascalese ‘Nzemmula’ expresses a light and transparent ruby red color. The aromatic profile consists of fascinating aromas of strawberry, cherry, nectar peach, and thyme, enriched by complex hints of tobacco and graphite and by iodized notes. Sumptuous is the entry on the palate, where the soft and integrated tannin is accompanied by excellent fresh-salty verve, elements that combine in an intense and persistent development.
