Located in the extraordinary wine-producing region of Mount Etna, the small artisanal establishment of Bruno Ferrara Sardo crafts sincere and genuine expressions of this unique territory. Bruno's approach to the world of viticulture began as a game during his childhood summers spent among his grandfather’s vineyards on Mount Etna. Over time, he developed a growing interest in this ancient trade, deciding in the 1990s to start a small independent production from his grandfather's ancient vineyards, located in Randazzo, in Contrada Allegracore, on the northern slope of the volcano.

Bruno Ferrara Sardo's small vineyard property spans less than 2 hectares and includes very old vines of Nerello Mascalese, alongside a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio. The vines are rooted in volcanic soils at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level and are cultivated without the use of herbicides, pesticides, and other synthetic chemicals, relying solely on copper and sulfur for phytosanitary defense. The vineyards are thus grass-covered, with soil tillage reduced to the bare minimum, and harvesting is carried out strictly by hand. The same genuine approach is adopted in the cellar, where fermentations occur completely spontaneously thanks to only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by about 15 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent maturation phase also takes place in stainless steel, without the use of wood, which Bruno believes would somehow interfere with the purest expression of the terroir, just as any fining and filtration operations would, which are therefore totally banned.

The Etna Rosso ‘Nzemmula’ is the emblematic wine of winemaker Bruno Ferrara Sardo, an interpretation of the volcanic territory of Etna that impresses with energy and tension, produced in very limited quantities. The label name, 'Nzemmula,' is an invitation to conviviality and sharing, as in the local dialect this term means "together."
