Il Nero d'Avola "Sherazade" di Donnafugata is a Sicilian red wine embodying the Mediterranean spirit of one of the most important wine-producing regions in southern Italy. A product that is a lively expression of the territory, made from one of the most typical and representative red grape varieties of the island's winemaking tradition, Nero d'Avola. This "Sherazade," named after one of the protagonists of the collection of tales "One Thousand and One Nights," to which Donnafugata dedicates part of its labels, stands out for the perfect balance between nose and palate. A bottle that gives us a fresh, genuine, and carefree drinking experience.
The red wine "Sherazade" from the Donnafugata winery is born from a careful selection of Nero d'Avola, a native Sicilian grape variety cultivated in vineyards located on clay-loam soils at an altitude ranging from 200 to 450 meters above sea level. After the harvest, alcoholic fermentation occurs in steel containers, macerating for 6-8 days and undergoing malolactic fermentation. This is followed by ageing in steel for about 4 months and bottling.
The "Sherazade" by Donnafugata is a Nero d'Avola that, in the glass, reveals a bright ruby-red colour, with some violet reflections on the rim. The range of aromas that spread to the nose is centred on fruity notes of cherry and plum, alternating with light hints of sweet spices and minerals. The palate is full-bodied and tactile, characterized by a fresh sip in perfect taste-olfactory correspondence and velvety tannins. It is a very versatile label from a gastronomic point of view, suitable for various dishes and recipes: the only important thing is always having a good supply on hand!
