“Lu Còri” by Cantine Barbera is a Nero d’Avola with a Mediterranean, saline, and spicy character and a feminine profile, produced in the Menfi area with vinification in steel. It emanates fragrant and delicate aromas of red fruits and wild spices, with pleasant mineral nuances that evoke the sea. The sip is slender, light, agile, and fresh

The Nero d’Avola “Lu Cori” is a feminine and sensual red, a testament to a sun-kissed Sicily caressed by the sea breeze. In this interpretation by Cantine Barbera, the territory's Sicilian grape takes on a more refined and elegant taste-aromatic profile than usual, eliminating the intensity and structure that often characterize the type. This Nero d’Avola stands out for its freshness and loses in muscle, pleasantly balancing its softness with the abundant salinity given by the position of the vineyards, just a few hundred meters from the sea.

“Lu Cori” Nero d’Avola comes from a harvest that usually takes place in the first half of September, when the skins take on an intense bluish color. The grapes are harvested and transported to the winery, where they undergo a cold maceration prior to fermentation, aimed at extracting the most fragrant and fruity aromatic substances. After fermenting thanks to the activity of indigenous yeasts, the maturation of this Nero d’Avola takes place for 6-8 months in tanks in steel while a small parcel of the wine rests for about 6 months in a Slavonian oak vat and concludes its production with a refinement period of 3 months in the bottle.

The Nero d'Avola "Lu Cori" by Cantine Barbera impresses with its color density, showcasing a brilliant ruby red that fades into violet. It abundantly scents of ripe small red fruits, dominated by blackberries and raspberries, complemented by almost briny sea aromas framed in part by a light sweet spiciness. On the palate, it is fragrant, agile, and lively, with the right softness that carries the flavor of ripe fruit. A noteworthy aspect is certainly its freshness, which gives it a more expressive, intriguing, and enveloping character.
