Nuits-Saint-Georges "Hauts Pruliers" from the Machard de Gramont winery is a subtle and vibrant Black Pinoit from Burgundy. The grapes harvested and carefully paved are fermented on indigenous yeasts and planted in oak barrels for a period that can vary from 13 to 20 months. The nose shows aromas of raspberry, strawberry and cherry, hints of vanilla and hints of undergrowth
Machard de Gramont's Nuits-Saint-Georges "Hauts Pruliers" is produced in the small hamlet of Primeaux-Prissey in the Côte de Nuits, an area considered optimal for the production of high-quality wines. The winery is family-owned and was founded by Aranud Machard Gramont around the early 1880s. Arnaud is the son of artists, since his family already owned 32 hectares planted entirely with vines, hectares that were later divided into three parts, one of which has now become Arnaud's estate for his winery. Sons Alban and Alexis have continued their father's work, starting a project to restore old vineyards, abandoned because of phylloxera and the world wars.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges "Hauts Pruliers" vineyards of Machard de Gramont are mostly 100 years old. The Pinot Noir grapes are grown on limestone and clay soils in a context whose climate proves hot and sultry in summer, and in winter temperatures drop quite a bit with unexpected frosts. Once the manual harvest is completed, an alcoholic fermentation takes place thanks to indigenous yeasts; it is aged from 13 to 20 months in oak barrels and bottled without any filtration or clarification.
Machard de Gramont's Nuits-Saint-Georges "Hauts Pruliers" appears ruby red with garnet highlights to the eye. On the nose you can perceive hints of raspberry and strawberry, vanilla and some final notes of underbrush; on the palate there is a fresh and mineral structure, vibrant with a good persistence on the finish that draws the drinker in. Excellent paired with grilled cooked red meat, game and vegetable-based pasta dishes; also interesting with aged cheeses. A product to be consumed during family celebrations, special festivities, but also as a good companion for convivial gatherings among friends to enjoy in the glass a wine resulting from an experienced cultivation of vines and the production of quality wines.
