Nuits Saint Georges ‘Les Saint-Georges’ Alain Michelot 2018

The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Les Saint-Georges" is part of the Domaine Alain Michelot’s range of labels, dedicated to the enhancement of the best plots of the estate. Vineyards carefully selected for the emblematic value of their characteristics, pure expression, direct and authentic, of a single terroir. The Appellation, in fact, hosts 41 Climat classified Premier Cru, which differ in exposure, altitude, microclimate and soil composition. It is a real mosaic, to be known through the tasting of bottles from parcel winemaking.

The Premier Cru "Les Saint-Georges" Nuits-Saint-Georges del Domaine Alain Michelot, was born in a beautiful estate of 8 hectares, cultivated with vines that have an average age of about 40 years. The plot "Les Saint-Georges" is located in the heart of the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyard, towards Prémeaux. The vines are planted with high density of vines per hectare, in order to reduce the availability of resources and to naturally lower yields. The short pruning, with few buds per branch, brings to maturity few bunches, but characterized by a remarkable aromatic richness, which allows to produce elegant and deep wines. The harvesting operations are carried out manually and only the most mature and healthy bunches are started to fermentation, which takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperature and maceration on the skins. According to tradition, aging takes place in French oak barrels for a period of 18 months.

The Pinot Noir Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Les Saint-Georges" by Domaine Alain Michelot is a label dedicated to lovers of Burgundy, who already appreciate the classic and traditional face of the reds of the Nuits-areaSaint-Georges and wish to deepen their knowledge of the terroir, delving into the facets of the individual Cru. The color is bright ruby red. The nose offers a bouquet of great varietal typicality, characterized by elegant aromas of small red berries, hints of soft spices and floral shades of violet. The mouthfeel is harmonious and flowing, with a subtle tannic texture and finely faceted aromas, which accompany the wine towards a fresh and persistent finish.
