'PACTIO' TENUTA FERTUNA 2019 DESCRIPTION

The "Pactio" from Tenuta Fertuna is a red wine produced in the hilly area of Maremma in Grosseto, capable of expressing the most typical aspect and authentic character of these lands. It is a blend with a majority of Sangiovese, joined by two of the most famous and widely planted international grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The choice of a relatively short wood ageing period favours the direct expression of the grape varieties' characteristics, bringing forward fruity, rich, intense, and ripe aromas, supported by the good freshness that contributes to the overall balance of the wine.

The "Pactio" wine originates from a production area in the Tuscan Maremma in the Grilli locality near Gavorrano. Tenuta Fertuna owns approximately 145 hectares in these lands, fifty of which are cultivated as vineyards within a pristine natural context characterized by olive trees and Mediterranean scrub. The poor soils, with limestone and shale combined with a temperate Mediterranean climate, allow the grapes to ripen with particularly rich and intense aromatic profiles. This results in characteristic wines that reflect this magnificent land's sunny character.

The red "Pactio" from Tenuta Fertuna is a delightful wine created to highlight the territory's vocation for producing wines with an exceptionally smooth and immediate drinkability. The balanced blend of native and international grape varieties allows for the creation of a harmonious wine with great taste balance. Vinification takes place separately according to the harvest times of the different varieties. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with skin maceration, and before bottling, the wine matures for 4 months in Allier tonneaux. In the glass, it has a bright ruby red colour, and on the nose, it recalls aromas of sour cherry, ripe cherry, berries, hints of vanilla, spices, and liquorice. The palate is soft and expressive, with fragrant fruit and a finish of pleasant freshness. It is a wine well-suited to accompany traditional dishes of the local cuisine.
