Tenuta Fertuna
Tenuta Fertuna is the winery owned by the Meregalli family, founded in 1997 and located in Grilli, in the Gavorrano area, in the heart of the Maremma grossetana. Its name, which combines the words fertility and fortune, is indicative of a production style that enhances the richest and most extroverted soul of the indigenous and international grape varieties grown in the area. The fertility is that of the wonderful Tuscan land; the fortune of the men who cultivate it with care and a patient hand.
Tenuta Fertuna extends over a total of 145 hectares, of which 50 are dedicated to vine cultivation. The vineyard, cultivated with a spurred cordon training system and high planting density, is surrounded by lush and flourishing nature and accompanied by an olive grove of 10 hectares. The soils rich in galestro and alberese guarantee complexity, finesse, and richness to the production. The use of technology and environmental sustainability are the guiding principles of a production process in which tradition and modernity harmonize perfectly with each other. Fermentations take place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with an automatic pumping over system, and are distinct and divided by vineyard parcels. The most important red wines mature in French Allier barriques and tonneaux, while the others are obtained in steel tanks.
The Fertuna wines reflect the generosity and richness of the territory in which they are born. They are ideally inspired by Etruscan culture and the origins of viticulture but, equipped with a modern and impeccable approach, they are projected towards the future and towards an audience increasingly fond of the great red wines of Tuscany. The preference for international grape varieties, including Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, is indicative of this modern and rigorous vision. All labels manifest both an international nature and an unmistakably Tuscan imprint and, every year, they meet with the praise of critics and the public.
