PECORINO 'IRATA' CLARA MARCELLI 2020 DESCRIPTION

Clara Marcelli's Pecorino "Irata" comes from the Marche that stands out for the way it combines rich fruit and flavour, a vivid example of territorial wine. Producing bottles that should be a warrant of quality, by stepping out of the 'spotlight' has always been the aim of Emanuele and Daniele Colletta, owners of the Clara Marcelli winery since 1992, a reality with14 hectares of vineyards near Ascoli Piceno. A true return to the land, with the aim of giving life to wines that tell a story and a territory. The consultancy of Marco Casolanetti, oenologist and owner of Oasi degli Angeli, has given a strong push in this direction, for a line that ranges from tasty everyday wines to extremely fine reds. We recommend their purchase, without reservation.

The white "Irata" by Clara Marcelli is made from pure Pecorino grapes grown on vines located at an altitude of 250 metres on clayey soil. If in the vineyard the dictates of organic farming are paramount and the grapes are harvested by hand, in the cellar the same is done with spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in steel containers, and ageing for 10 months in steel, cement and Marc Grenier's stock vats.

The "Irata" Clara Marcelli presents itself in the glass with an intense and lively straw yellow colour. The extremely typical nose opens on notes of aromatic herbs, ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, orange peel and brackish puffs. Its expressive simplicity does not undermine the definition of the olfactory profile, vivid and inviting with a finish reminiscent of the Marches sea. On the sip, the liquid is full, endowed with a soft tactility, but enlivened by an integrated dose of freshness and sea salt. The value for money, decidedly skewed towards the former, suggests a generous supply.
