The Per'E Palummo by Casa d'Ambra is the young and fragrant interpretation of Piedirosso, the most widespread red grape variety in the Phlegraean area. Its classic fruity notes are enriched by the volcanic and marine character of the island of Ischia, which represents an ideal terroir for this ancient Campanian variety. Casa d'Ambra was born precisely with the intent of giving voice to this unique territory in the world, composed of ancient volcanic tuffs and kissed by a sweet and sunny Mediterranean climate. It is a light, soft, and harmonious red, ideal for tasting with meat ragù pasta dishes and white meat second courses.
The wine Per'E Palummo by Casa d'Ambra is born in the heart of the Mediterranean, in the wonderful natural setting of the Island of Ischia. The Piedirosso grapes come from the plots located in Fiaiano d'Ischia in the municipalities of Barano and Serrara Fontana. The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of 200-300 meters above sea level with an east, northeast exposure. The soils are of medium texture, with the presence of volcanic origin elements and particularly rich in potassium and phosphorus. The grape harvest takes place manually in the first weeks of October. The bunches are sent for fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with skin maceration of about ten days. Before proceeding to bottling, the wine matures for a few months in steel tanks.
The Casa d'Ambra Per'E Palummo is a red with a pleasantly easy and smooth sip, which enhances the best characteristics of young Piedirosso, vinified with great care, lightly and delicately. To the eye, it presents a ruby red color with bright reflections. The olfactory profile is characterized mainly by fragrant aromas of fresh fruit, ripe cherry, small berries, red plum, hints of aromatic herbs and spicy notes, on a slightly vinous background, which highlights its youthful exuberance. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a fine and delicate tannic texture, crunchy aromas, a rich and juicy fruit, which leads to a finish that closes with fresh and savory sensations.
