Unusual grapesThe Perricone by Fina is a Sicilian red wine from the Marsala wine region, in the province of Trapani, aged for a short period in steel tanks to keep its fruity fragrances in the foreground. It expresses an intense bouquet on the nose that offers spicy notes of black pepper and juniper, accompanied by marasca, cherries, and plum jams, a prelude to a full, soft, and velvety sip, with elegant persistence.
The Perricone produced by Cantine Fina is a red wine with personality from the Marsala area. It offers a precious range of spices on the nose, intense and enveloping, while on the palate it presents an elegant sip, with a solid and velvety tannic base. A label that identifies with the territory from which it originates, with unmistakable Sicilian traits, transporting us sip by sip into the Marsala countryside, where sea and salt pans alternate with vineyards cultivated with organic farming, attentive to safeguarding the splendid landscapes surrounding the vines.
The red wine Perricone is produced by Cantine Fina from various owned plots scattered across western Sicily, the area where Perricone originates, an important indigenous red grape for the viticulture of the entire region. The vines grow using the espalier system with guyot pruning, at an altitude of about 250 meters above sea level. The must, obtained from the gentle pressing of the grapes, ferments in temperature-controlled steel containers. We then proceed with the aging process, which has a short duration and takes place in steel, and then continues, after bottling, with another 6 months of maturation in glass before being released on the market.
The Fina Perricone presents itself visually with an intense, deep, dark ruby color, at times impenetrable. The nose opens up to an interesting range of spicy notes, which gradually reveal hints of fruit in jam. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a refined, broad, and enveloping sip, with a good tannic structure. It finishes with an excellent persistent aftertaste. A perfect bottle to try with stewed meats, also excellent with a selection of aged Sicilian cheeses to create a regional pairing.
