Pet-Nat Rosé 'Misunderstanding' La Piotta 2021

The Pet-Nat Rosé ‘Misunderstanding’ from the organic winery La Piotta, located in the Oltrepò Pavese area, is a sparkling Ancestral Method wine that expresses crunchy notes of red fruits on the nose. The name of the estate likely derives from the term in the Piedmont dialect “piotta”, which means “stone”, attributed to it due to the abundance of stones in the area's soils. The presence of the Piedmont dialect in the area is explained by the existence of numerous Piedmontese settlements that spread in the area starting from the second half of the 1800s.

The La Piotta ‘Misunderstanding’ Pet-Nat Rosé is produced from a base of a single white grape variety to which red wine is subsequently added. The vines are cultivated under certified organic farming on soils mainly composed of marls and limestone. The harvest of the white grapes is accompanied by a careful selection of the same, which are then softly pressed before the alcoholic fermentation of the must at controlled temperature. Subsequently, to the white wine a percentage of still red wine is added and the mass is then bottled and added with yeasts for the sparkling process according to the Ancestral Method.

Visually, the Pet-Nat Rosé La Piotta ‘Misunderstanding’ displays an intense pink hue. On the nose, vivid aromas of cherry and berries are perceived, combined with light floral nuances. The juicy freshness on the palate contributes to its excellent drinkability, further enhanced by the fine and delicate bubbles. Due to its dynamic and easy-drinking taste, this Pet-Nat Rosé pairs well with so-called “street food” like pizza, supplì, or stuffed focaccia.
