It is a beautiful version of this fascinating clone of Pinot, which has found in Collio one of the territories where it expresses itself in a very interesting way, combining the seductive breadth and softness of the fruit with the savory and mineral characteristics typical of the terroir.
The Pinot Grigio “Jesera” wine is produced by one of the historic wineries of Friuli. Since 1930, Venica has started producing wines in the beautiful estate of Dolegna del Collio. The 40 hectares are divided into many plots, all characterized by beautiful hilly exposures, which, along with the particularly favorable climate of Collio, have made this area particularly suitable for viticulture. The Alps protect the vineyards from the cold northern winds, and the nearby Adriatic Sea helps to soften the temperatures with a gentle Mediterranean breeze. The soils, consisting only of flysch or ponca in Friulian, are draining and crumbly marls and sandstones very rich in mineral substances. The philosophy of the winery has always been directed towards "producing mono-varietal wines that can interpret the grape variety, highlighting the extraordinary characteristics of the territory. The Pinot Grigio grapes undergo a pre-fermentation maceration of 4-8 hours at a temperature of 14 °C in containers protected from oxygen. 10% of the mass ferments and ages in large wooden barrels of 20-27 hectoliters, and the rest in stainless steel tanks.
The "Jesera" is a Pinot Grigio that impresses with the harmony and balance of its olfactory and tasting components. A remarkable fusion of grape variety and territory, it manages to express the best varietal qualities thanks to the precious soils of Collio. The color is golden yellow, with light and brilliant pink and copper reflections. On the nose, it expresses a wide aromatic palette, with floral scents, citrus aromas, ripe fruit, hints of spices, ginger, and herbal notes. On the palate, it is rich, with soft and expressive fruit and a pleasantly fresh and mineral finish.
