For almost a century Venica & Venica has been cultivating vineyards and producing wines in the Collio Gorizia area. Since the date of its founding, as many as four generations have handed down the love for this land and the passion for viticulture. Today the winery represents one of the best excellences of the area and offers a range of wines that faithfully reflect the noblest traditions of the denomination, which has always been famous for its extraordinary whites, intense, harmonious, savory and mineral. The winery has grown over time, from the purchase of the first land in 1930, to its expansion in the 1980s, with the acquisition of numerous vineyards and a heightened awareness of the quality of its wines, which has led the winery to be frequently awarded for its wines by the most important wine guides

The estate is located in the Dolegna del Collio area, a few kilometers from the Slovenian border, in the heart of a beautiful area of rolling hills, characterized by sunny exposures. The Gorizia Collio region enjoys a climate very favorable to the cultivation of vines, which have been present in these lands since the time of ancient Rome. The Julian Pre-Alps mountain range offers natural protection from the cold air currents that descend from the northeast, and the proximity of the sea, allows the mild breezes to rise inland. The origin of the soils comes from sedimentation in ancient sea beds, which led to the formation of calcareous marls and sandstones, known as flysch or ponca in Friulian. These are stony, friable soils, very well draining and rich in valuable mineral elements.

The particular microclimate, cool but with Mediterranean influences, and the nature of the soils, have proved over the centuries to be very suitable for growing white grapes, especially Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Verduzzo, but later also the most important international varieties that arrived in Friuli towards the end of the nineteenth century: Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, aromatic Traminer and Sauvignon Blanc, which in this area expresses itself at high levels of quality. Venica & Venica's vineyards cover a total area of 40 hectares, divided into several plots, located in particularly suitable places. Agronomic management is carried out with respect for nature. The philosophy of environmental sustainability permeates all of the winery's choices and translates into maintaining the vitality of the soils and protecting biodiversity. The result is a range of wines of excellent quality, which is at the top of regional production.
