In particular, the Primitivo from Gioia del Colle, very fresh and elegant, has always been indicated for the production of this type of wine. Intense and fruity, it stands out for its rich and harmonious character, straightforward and smooth.
The "Maccone" Primitivo Rosé by Donato Angiuli is made by an interesting reality in the Apulian wine scene. It is a small artisanal winery, located in the Primitivo area of Gioia del Colle, which has chosen to dedicate itself with great passion to enhancing the indigenous grape varieties of the territory. The Primitivo grapes come from old vines over 60 years old, mainly trained as bush vines, found in the municipal territories of Adelfia, Acquaviva delle Fonti, Casamassima. The harvest is done by hand with a slight advance to preserve the right freshness necessary to make a rosé. The bunches are pressed very gently with a brief contact with the skins. The free-run must is vinified in white with spontaneous fermentation and the use of only indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 10 °C. The wine ages for a few months in steel before being bottled.
