Red 'El Goru 18 M' Ego Bodegas 2018
Exclusive wineryThe red wine 'El Goru 18 M' from the Spanish winery Ego Bodegas is a deep and enveloping wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Monastrell, a grape variety prince of the Jumilla D.O.. From the long aging in wood it acquires an intense and complex aromatic bouquet, in which the classic notes of berries and cherries are accompanied by soft spicy nuances among which vanilla and cinnamon stand out. The warm, soft sip, supported by well-presented tannins and a long, lingering finish, makes it the perfect wine to pair with red meat and game!
The production reality of Jumilla Ego Bodegas presents the Red ‘El Goru 18 M’, a powerful and structured interpretation that arises from the meeting of the Mediterranean grape variety Monastrell and the famous international variety Cabernet Sauvignon. Monastrell is a Spanish biotype of the grape known in France as Mourvèdre, particularly widespread in the Southern Rhône, Provence, and Languedoc-Roussillon but originally from the Iberian Mediterranean coastline. In fact, the most accredited hypothesis states that Monastrell was introduced to Valencia around 500 BC by the Phoenicians. Supporting this theory is the etymology of the term “Mourvèdre”, which would derive from the ancient name of the present-day municipality of Sagunto, located not far from Valencia and known as Morvedre in the past.
‘El Goru 18 M’ Ego Bodegas Red is made from a blend of Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon, grapes grown at a high altitude of 900 meters above sea level. In particular, the bunches come from a selection of the best grapes hand-picked in boxes from vineyards over 50 years old, characterized by a naturally limited production. The two varieties are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks through controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by 15-30 days of skin maceration. Subsequently, the liquid is aged in oak barrels for 18 months until bottling and final marketing.
Ego Bodegas Red Jumilla ‘El Goru 18 M’ has an intense ruby red color tending towards garnet. From the glass emerge vivid aromas of strawberry, cherry, rose petals, and violet that blend with soft notes of chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon. On the palate, it is juicy and enveloping, intense and persistent, with well-present tannins accompanying the pleasant spicy vein on the finish.
