Red 'Lo Camin de Lumet' Domaine La Coume-Lumet 2020
ArtisanalDomaine La Coume-Lumet's ‘Lo Camin de Lumet’ is a red wine, a blend of Malbec, Syrah, Merlot and Grenache produced in Limoux, France. The result of non-invasive practices and five months' ageing in oak, this wine is fresh, smooth and quite persistent. The aromas that prevail are certainly those of forest fruits and spices that make ‘Lo Camin de Lumet’ suitable to be enjoyed with classic red meat, but also with good smoked fish
The Red ‘Lo Camin de Lumet’ from Domaine La Coume-Lumet is a label from Languedoc-Roussillon with a full and concentrated flavor. The origins of Domaine La Coume-Lumet date back to 2012, when the couple Luc and Isabelle, he a computer engineer and she a psychology graduate, found after years of searching a beautiful estate immersed in the Limoux denomination. Although the vineyards were in a state of semi-abandonment, the potential of the territory was clear from the start, potential determined in part by the climate, influenced by both Mediterranean and Atlantic influences, and in part by the clay-limestone matrix of the soils.
‘Lo Camin de Lumet’ Domaine La Coume-Lumet Red consists of a blend of Malbec (50%), Syrah (30%), Merlot (10%), and Grenache (10%), varieties cultivated using environmentally friendly practices. In particular, the plants rest on a slope facing south, located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level within the AOC of Limoux. Once harvested, the grapes are vinified in red through alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins. The subsequent aging phase lasts for 5 months and takes place for half of the mass always in steel and for the remaining half in oak barrels.
In the glass, the Red Domaine La Coume-Lumet ‘Lo Camin de Lumet’ shows an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. The olfactory spectrum offers vivid aromas of red currant, strawberry, raspberry, and plum, combined with hints of black pepper typical of Syrah. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich, yet not lacking in freshness, with a soft and fine tannic structure that anticipates the persistent returns of berries. Due to its characteristics, this red from Limoux pairs beautifully with flavorful meat dishes such as beef and duck.
