Domaine La Coume-Lumet
Domaine La Coume-Lumet was established in 2013 within the municipality of Cépie, in the wine-growing area of Languedoc, interpreted through a sustainable production approach. It all begins with the passion of Luc and Isabelle for wine, who were introduced to the fantastic wine world of Languedoc by Matthieu Dubernet, the family oenologist. The couple had no background in the wine sector, but through a series of meetings like the one with Matthieu, they found themselves managing Domaine La Coume-Lumet, identified after 4 years of research. The estate is immersed in nature, overlooking the Aude valley and surrounded by numerous woods.
Domaine La Coume-Lumet has 54 hectares of property, of which 17 are reserved for vines. The vineyards, which fall entirely within the Limoux denomination, are located about 350 meters above sea level and benefit from the simultaneous influence of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The soils are mainly of morainic origin, consisting of clay and limestone and with an abundant presence of pebbles, but there are also sandy soils. The cultivated varieties include Mauzac, Chardonnay, and Chenin, intended for the production of sparkling wines and still white wines, as well as Merlot, Grenache, Syrah, and Malbec for the reds. These grape varieties are cultivated with a high sustainability perspective, certified by the Terra Vitis brand. In the winery, they try to avoid the invasiveness of the winemaking process, focusing first on the quality of the grapes and then working the musts under optimal temperature and hygiene conditions. Maturations take place both in stainless steel tanks for ready-to-drink bottles and in oak barrels for those that are more structured and prestigious.
The selection of Domaine La Coume-Lumet is varied, offering sparkling wines, white and red wines. The labels all come from blends of different varieties, appreciated for their ability to combine Mediterranean softness and oceanic freshness.
