Saint Romain 'Vieilles Vignes' Domaine de Bellene 2022
ArtisanalThe Saint Romain "Vieilles Vignes" by Domaine de Bellene is an elegant and territorial Burgundy Pinot Noir, coming from the homonymous village located in the Cote de Beaune. Refines for about 12 months in French oak pieces and expresses finesse and delicacy, combined with a rich and full sip: flavor and freshness emerge from a bouquet that smells of small red fruits, blueberry, cherry and wild berries.
The Saint Romain “Vieilles Vignes” from Domaine de Bellene faithfully embodies the southern characteristics of the Cote d'Or, delivering a generous and sunny liquid, yet always intricate. Nicolas Potel is a Burgundy winemaker of rare talent and sensitivity, providential traits when, as in his case, one has the opportunity to engage with some of the best parcels in the most prestigious region in the world. The approach aimed at enhancing the peculiarities of each parcel has always involved respectful agriculture based on the principles of biodynamics to honor the vitality of soil and environment, along with extremely meticulous yet not necessarily interventionist work in the cellar. To date, there are 24 hectares of vines, which have gradually been enriched with parcels scattered between Cote De Beaune and Cote De Nuits, all giving life to wines of remarkable energy and focus.
The red Saint Romain “Vieilles Vignes” is made from pure Pinot Nero grapes from the namesake municipality, as well as one of the last outposts of the Cote d'Or. Although the municipality is moreknown for the quality of its whites, Nicolas manages through sensitivity and expertise to obtain a red of remarkable depth, sealing the biodynamic approach to the vineyard with spontaneous alcoholic fermentations in oak barrels, and aging in the same containers for 12 months.
The Saint Romain “Vieilles Vignes” wine presents itself in the glass with an intense, enchanting, and luminous ruby hue. The nose unfolds notes of ripe cherry, berries, and dark spices, engagingly embodying the warmer characteristics of the Cote d'Or. The sip is rich, intricate, and filling, yet of superb elegance and always balanced among its components. Against a weighty body, delicate tannic friction and a savory lift provide the wine with length and depth. Guarantee.
