The Sauvignon Blanc produced by the Friulian winery Villa de Puppi is a faithful interpretation of the grape variety, characterized by intense and rich aromas and a clear mineral freshness. It originates from a family-run estate that works with great passion and meticulous care, aiming to create elegant labels with a traditional face. The winemaking process is conducted with extreme simplicity, following the natural transformation of the grape into wine. An approach based on the minimum necessary intervention, which allows for the proposal of a genuine wine, capable of transparently interpreting the peculiarities of a great terroir.
The Sauvignon wine is one of the flagship whites of Villa de Puppi, which has an estate divided into two plots, one of 10 hectares near the hilly area of Rosazzo and one of 20 hectares in Moimocco, near Cividale del Friuli, which also houses the winery. The lands are composed of flysch or ponca in Friulano, a stratification of limestone marls and sandstones of ancient marine origin or alluvial pebbles in the flatter areas. All the work in the vineyard, up to the harvest, are carried out with artisanal care. The Sauvignon Blanc is made with two different harvests, one slightly early to preserve freshness and one at full ripeness to obtain rich aromas. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature and the wine then matures for a few months in steel, without undergoing malolactic fermentation.
The white Sauvignon of Villa de Puppi is a classic and territorial expression of the famous French grape variety, imported during the nineteenth century to these lands and quickly adapted very well to the local pedoclimatic conditions, so much so that it has become one of the flagship varieties of the region. Of a bright light yellow with brilliant greenish reflections, greenish reflections, seduces with a refined bouquet, with scents of aromatic herbs, medicinal herbs, sage, boxwood, tomato leaf, citrus hints, white peach, and tropical fruit. On the palate it is intense and rich, with fruity aromas, a deep and aromatic sip, well balanced by the freshness and salinity typical of the terroir of the Colli Orientali.
