Spumante Rosè Brut Nyetimber
Spumante Rosè Brut from the English winery Nyetimber is a fine, lively rosé bubbly perfect with tasty shellfish. It is made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier and is matured on the lees for 36 months. The pink colour with auburn highlights reveals aromas of mango, currants, honey and hints of spice. The palate is soft and creamy with a slight freshness and a long, lingering finish
The Rosé Brut created by Nyetimber reveals how the passion for sparkling rosé has never faded across the Channel. The color and the aromatic hints of small red fruits are almost a postcard that perfectly captures the bright and lush British summers filled with blooming gardens.
Nyetimber produces its Rosé Brut from the three typical grapes of the Champagne blend, using them in a still rather secret varying proportion: a surprising majority of Chardonnay, up to 75% of the blend, Pinot Noir in variable parts between 25 and 55%, with a balance of Meunier for a maximum of 5%. The vineyards are located in the counties of West Sussex, where the estate is based, and Hampshire, stretching over the gentle slopes that extend along the coast of the English Channel, known as the South Downs. The sandy soils with a high presence of chalk and the low altitudes, which do not exceed 200 meters above sea level, closely resemble the French territory of the Côte des Blancs, which stretches from Epernay southward. The British terroir is complemented by a climate that becomes more favorable year by year: rising summer temperatures and less persistent rains, linked to the windy influences of the ocean, allow for an ever better and safer ripening of the grapes. The harvest is done by hand and the different varieties are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. The blending of the cuvée also includes about 20% of reserve wines, while the aging on the lees after the tirage requires a period of 36 months. The final dosage is set at 9 grams per liter.
The English Sparkling Wine Rosé Brut by Nyetimber captures the eye with its captivating sunset pink hue, a vintage shade illuminated by fine effervescence and coppery reflections. The nose is fragrant and articulated with scents of an English summer forest, with small ripe red berries, and the denser aromas of salted butter cookies. Tropical notes, fresh and ripe, of mango introduce a clear and pungent spice that evokes cardamom. The taste is creamy and incredibly fresh, with a lingering finish on the hints of currant and raspberry. An interpretation of rosé so delicious that it almost suggests a pastry pairing, like a cream tart.
