Syrah 'Guarini Coccinella' Aldo Viola 2022

The Guarini Coccinella by Aldo Viola is a rich and sunny Syrah, a perfect junction between substance and freshness. Aldo Viola is part of an ever-growing circle of Sicilian producers who have chosen to create wines that are pure expressions of the territory. About 13 hectares of vineyards cultivated in Alcamo, in the province of Trapani, without the use of any chemical or synthetic substances, continuing in the winery with spontaneous fermentations. Nerello Mascalese, Syrah, Perricone, Cataratto, and Grillo, which each year give life to unique and singular interpretations that reflect the territory and vintage. A must-have in the cellar.

The red Guarini Coccinella comes from pure Syrah grapes. The vines used to produce it, located at about 350 meters above sea level, are around 25 years old and rest on calcareous-clay soil. The grapes are hand-picked with careful selection of the bunches, while in the winery, spontaneous fermentation in steel takes place, followed by a maceration of about two weeks in steel containers, the same ones in which the liquid will be refined from a duration of about 10 months. No clarification or filtration before bottling, and minimal addition of sulfur.

The Guarini Coccinella wine presents itself in the glass with its dark ruby red, almost impenetrable. A nose of great impact and richness, concentrating the moods of Sicily and Syrah: plums, black olives, briny breezes, black pepper. Great personality, for a profile that is varied and never cloying. The sip strikes for its freshness and cohesion of elements, and despite the generosity of the extract, it is always enlivened by a perfectly integrated saline trail. A great everyday red, which combines juiciness with a more substantial aspect.
