The Torcolato from Breganze by Maculan is an elegant and territorial passito wine, with an intense, pleasant, and engaging aromatic profile. After 12 months of aging in barrels, it expresses sweet aromas of honey, flowers, vanilla, and noble spices. On the palate, it is sweet and full-bodied, balanced and harmonious.

The Torcolato di Breganze by Maculan is one of those wines that impresses with the intense bouquet it can offer; the notes of honey blend perfectly with floral, vanilla, and woody notes. In a charming hilltop town, Breganze, the Maculan family has been selecting and vinifying the best grapes for three generations, creating unique wines in terms of aroma, intensity, and structure.

Today, the Maculan winery is one of the most important names in the Veneto region and is the authentic ambassador, in Italy and around the world, of the Torcolato di Breganze; we are faced with a splendid dessert wine made from white passito that is produced in a very small area of the province of Vicenza: 15 km of vineyards nestled between the history and traditions of Marostica, Bassano del Grappa, and Thiene.

Made from Vespaiola grapes, the Torcolato has been known since 1610, and it tells us that the name of the wine originates from the ancient practice with which it was vinified: the grapes, once harvested, were placed to dry in cellars or attics and, to save space, were hung from the beams andtwisted (torcolate, in the local dialect) with strings. Today, the drying lasts just over three months, but it takes place in the fruit-drying room, while the aging continues in French oak barriques, 1/3 of which are new and 2/3 are second passage.

The Torcolato di Breganze by Maculan presents itself with a beautiful bright and golden yellow and immediately impresses with its intense bouquet of honey, flowers, vanilla, and noble woods. On the palate, it is sweet and full, perfectly blending sweetness with freshness. The final sugar residue of 155 g/l makes it perfect both as a dessert wine, excellent with small dry pastries, and as a wine to pair with long-aged cheeses, such as Asiago Stravecchio or blue cheeses.
