Toro Malvasia 'Blanco Ecologico 14' MonteToro 2023

The Toro Malvasia ‘Blanco Ecologico 14’ from the Montetoro selection of the Ramón Ramos winery is a bottle with a refreshing and softly aromatic character, a white interpretation of the Spanish denomination Toro. Like the rest of the grape varieties belonging to the Malvasia family, the Malvasia Castellana, the variety at the base of the ‘Blanco Ecologico 14’, is also native to Monemvasia, a territory from which it was exported in ancient times by Greek colonists. This grape variety, also known by the synonym Doña Blanca, gives rise to wines characterized by a not overly pronounced acidity and a light aromaticity compared to that of other Malvasias.

The ‘Blanco Ecologico 14’ Montetoro Malvasia Toro is made from only Malvasia Castellana grapes coming from vineyards aged between 20 and 30 years planted on sandy and stony soils, very poor in organic matter. The harvest is done by hand with a careful selection of the bunches, which are then vinified in white through soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Still in steel, the wine matures for a few months until bottling and a further brief resting in glass that precedes its definitive release on the market.

Montetoro ‘Blanco Ecologico 14’ Toro Malvasia has a pale straw yellow color with delicate greenish glimmers. The olfactory spectrum opens up to sensations of exotic fruit and white-fleshed fruit like pear and apple, combined with pleasant hints of aromatic herbs and white flowers. The sip, light and drinkable, is very refreshing and smooth, with a graceful finish consistent with the fruity perceptions felt on the nose. This is a white wine perfect to drink young, paired with various appetizers, fresh cheeses, or delicate seafood starters.
