VOLNAY PREMIER CRU 'SANTENOTS' DOMAINE JACQUES PRIEUR 2018 DESCRIPTION

Volnay Premier Cru "Santenots" from Domaine Jacques Prieur is a particularly refined and elegant version of pure Pinot Noir. Volnay is located south of Pommard and has always been famous for its reds with delicate aromas and characterized by extraordinary finesse. Volnay's vineyard is located near the mountainous area of Chaignot and has been enhanced over the centuries by the Knights of Malta and the monks of the Abbeys of Saint-Andoche d'Autun and Maizières, until official recognition with the AOC in 1937. It is a bottle for connoisseurs and lovers of wines that play on aromatic facets, chiseled with extreme grace.

Premier Cru "Santenots" Volnay is produced by Domaine Jacques Prieur, a family business that has been growing vines in the most highly rated terroirs of Burgundy since the mid-19th century. The Volnay area is located at an altitude between 230 and 280 meters above sea level and is characterized by the predominant presence of soils composed of chalky limestone. The Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1997 in the estate's Clos des Santenots monopole. The grapes are harvested by hand and after a selection of the best bunches, they are destemmed. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins lasting 15-20 days. The wine matures for about a year and a half in French oak barrels before being bottled.

Domaine Jacques Prieur's Pinot Noir Volnay Premier Cru "Santenots" is the choice of those who love finesse, sophisticated and subtle reds that evoke the purity of the grape variety in its limpid expressive essentiality. It presents itself in the glass with a beautiful bright ruby red color. Elegant and fine, it opens on delicate floral scents of violet, aromas of raspberry, red currant, wild strawberry, blood orange, delicate sensations of soft spices and herbs. The palate has silky tannins that are well integrated with the body of the wine, dressing a harmonious sip with great flavor balance. The finish is fresh, long and pleasantly savory.
