Casa Coste Piane

In Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene, a historic area of Prosecco, the small winery Casa Coste Piane genuinely interprets the territory, establishing itself as a reference point for artisanal Prosecco. The estate is run with dedication by winemaker Loris Follador, who loves to define himself as a farmer, a guardian of land that must be kept healthy and vital, assisted by his wife Sandra and their children Adelchi and Raffaele. A lover of art and history, in 1985 Loris met the Czech artist Štěpán Zavřel, establishing a solid friendship right away, which led the Bohemian painter and illustrator to decorate the interiors of the house above the winery with three beautiful frescoes. The artist Linda Wolfsgruber is responsible for the illustration of the external sundial, created in collaboration with Giovanni Flora, while the estate's logo, depicting a young man harvesting, is the work of illustrator Monica Miceli.

Within the 6 hectares of vineyards owned, located at an altitude ranging from 250 to 400 meters above sea level, the estate Casa Coste Piane cultivates the indigenous grape variety Glera, alongside Verdiso and Riesling Renano, resulting from mass selections. Characterized by strong and suggestive slopes, the hilly lands where century-old plants grow are made up of clayey marls of morainic origin, rich in marine fossils and mineral elements. From an artisanal and sustainable perspective, the work is predominantly done by hand, and the use of synthetic chemicals and systemic products is excluded, with the fight against pathogens carried out through the use of copper, sulfur, and plant resistance inducers. Fermentations rely solely on indigenous yeasts and take place in stainless steel tanks, with the must-wine bottled with some residual sugars for spontaneous sparkling in the bottle according to the Ancestral Method.

The most representative label of the Casa Coste Piane winery is the Prosecco ‘Frizzante… Naturally’, an ancestral and sincere interpretation of the renowned Prosecco designation Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. In general, the wines of Casa Coste Piane are appreciated for their distinct savory-mineral character derived from the peculiar nature of the soils where the grapes grow.
