Le Ragose

The Le Ragose winery is located in Arbizzano di Negrar, not far from the beautiful city of Verona. We are in Valpolicella, where in 1969 Arnaldo Galli, a winemaker, decided, together with his wife Marta, to purchase some hectares of land to start producing wines under the name “Le Ragose,” the area where the winery is located. Today, almost fifty years later, it is Arnaldo's sons, Paolo and Marco, who continue a journey aimed at combining innovation and experimentation with the typical characteristics of the great red wines that come to life in this part of Veneto. Paolo mainly takes care of commercial development, while Marco, an agronomist and winemaker, carefully oversees the production phase.

Le Ragose now spans approximately 18 hectares of vineyards, within which the cultivation of native grape varieties is preferred. Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella are thus the main players, to which a very small percentage of vineyard is dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are trained using the simple Trentino pergola system, and the position of the vineyards where they grow is ideal for enjoying the breezes that blow through the hills, perfect for promoting that appassimento which is essential for the creation of Amarone. Fertilization, winter and green pruning, leaf thinning, and cluster thinning are the vineyard tasks that the company carries out with great care, in order to favor the best conditions for growth and ripening for each cluster. In the winery, fermentations occur thanks to indigenous yeasts, and the aging is carried out in oak barrels of different capacities and ages, ensuring that the characteristics of the terroir emerge clearly, without being covered by excessive tertiary aromas.

Le Ragose winery produces exclusively red wines every year. Labels with unique flavors that reflect the terroir and the grapes that compose them, and that are an expression of the great commitment of Paolo and Marco Galli. Bottles in line with the great Venetian tradition, from Valpolicella Classico to Ripasso, passing through Recioto to finally arrive at the great Amarone, where dreams finally become reality.
