The Milazzo winery is a family-run establishment located in Campobello di Licata, a small Sicilian town between Agrigento, Caltanisetta and Licata. The winery is deeply rooted in this part of southern Sicily and has been involved in viticulture for five generations. In particular, between the 1970s and 1980s, this winery was one of the first to engage in the vinification of indigenous grape varieties, reviving the island's traditional viticulture, while at the same time modernising working methods through experimentation and innovation. Thanks to this vision, Milazzo was one of the pioneers in sparkling wine production, becoming the first winery to produce Classic Method wines in Sicily. Today the company is managed by Giuseppina Milazzo and Saverio Lo Leggio, an inseparable couple who are continuing along a path that has been shaped by the enhancement of family traditions. They have also turned their attention to organic farming and the principle of sustainability, which are the cornerstones of a philosophy that aims to preserve the environment for future generations.

The Milazzo winery's vineyards extend over about 97 hectares, scattered around the town of Campobello di Licata, in the area known as Terre della Baronia. The plots are more or less all situated at an altitude of 400 metres, on hills that are morphologically very different from each other, each with their own particular terroir. What links the various plots is undoubtedly the climate, which is typically Mediterranean, characterised by alternating mild summers and cold winters, where light breezes favour an excellent temperature range between day and night. White and red grape varieties are grown in the rows, with a preference for indigenous varieties such as Inzolia, Catarratto, Nero d'Avola, Nerello Cappuccio and Perricone. The international grape varieties are Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Viognier and Pinot Noir. Milazzo's approach has always been centred on the organic management of the vineyards, which have been certified since 2012, and on the progressive reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at every stage of production. Great attention is also paid to manual pruning and the density of the plants, which is fundamental for producing wines that are structured, aromatic and suitable for interesting ageing periods.

Every year the Milazzo winery produces a wide range of products, where, in addition to white and red wines with personality and character, a considerable space is reserved for sparkling wines. These are produced with different versions of the Classic Method, where Chardonnay grapes are the main protagonists. The necks of almost all the bottles produced feature a special figure, a kingfisher, which is an aquatic bird of rare beauty that needs uncontaminated environments to survive and proliferate. It is an important symbol for Milazzo, which guarantees the authenticity of its products to consumers through this metaphorical image.
