Porta del Vento is a winery established in 2005 by Marco Sferlazzo, who decided to combine viticulture with his professional career. For this new project, one of the most interesting and suitable areas for viticulture in Sicily was chosen. The underlying philosophy is oriented towards producing wines with an authentic character, capable of expressing the essence of the territory. Special attention has been given to integrating a winery into a still wild and uncontaminated environment, with the goal of creating a consistent and sustainable ecosystem; a microcosm that enhances biodiversity and the complexity of an extraordinary rural landscape.

The estate is located in the hilly area of Camporeale, at an altitude of about 600 meters. The microclimate is cool and always well-ventilated, and this characteristic inspired the choice of the winery's name. The significant temperature variations between sunny days and cold nights contribute to slow grape ripening, resulting in the development of intense fragrances and aromas. The soils are poor, composed of sand and sandstone, ensuring good drainage. The winery is managed with an artisanal spirit and in full respect of the environment. The vineyards are cultivated according to biodynamic principles, using sulfur, copper, horn manure, horn silica, and natural essences. This approach aims to produce healthy and genuine wines, far from an industrial vision and the use of chemical additives.

Maniacal attention in the vineyard to consistently obtain high-quality grapes is followed by very simple cellar practices, based on light winemaking and great respect for the raw material. All harvests are done manually at full grape ripeness and by individual plot. Fermentations occur spontaneously using only indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, terracotta containers, or large oak barrels, to avoid imparting woody notes to the wines. The varieties historically present in the region are cultivated in the vineyard: Catarratto, Grillo, Trebbiano for whites; Perricone and Nero d'Avola for reds. Porta del Vento wines are distinguished by a pronounced personality and clear territorial authenticity.
