Valfaccenda

Valfaccenda is Roero. Valfaccenda is Luca together with Carolina. Valfaccenda is Luca together with Carolina in Roero.

He is a winemaker and she is a graphic designer (the labels are beautiful!), together they gave life in 2010 to this artisanal and sincere winemaking project, born from their terroirist dreams, from their lively and electronic spirit, from their love so simple and irrational. Valfaccenda is cognission (pronunciation: /cugnision/ = cognition) and arzigh (pronunciation: /arˈzig/ = risk) with a physical headquarters in Canale, but with the desire to conquer the world.

Valfaccenda, besides being the name chosen to call Luca's winery, is also the name of the place where he was born and where his vineyards now grow, synonymous with genuine and artisanal territoriality, which the bottled liquid strives to transfer to its drinker sip after sip. Here in the valley that connects Canale to Cisterna d'Asti, we are in the most rockin' heart of Roero, that land that lies on the left bank of the Tanaro river and which for a long time has been the victim of a inconsistent competition with the cousins from Langa. After earning a degree in Enology, a harvest in New Zealand, and a consulting period on the other side of the Tanaro (ouch!), Luca, drawn by the magnetic pull of his native places, returns to his Valle Faccenda, takes over his father's vineyards, and unleashes his creativity. Here the soils are sandy, the slopes steep, the altitudes reach 400 meters, and the gaze is lost in a breathtaking landscape, marked by the vertical cuts of the Rocche, where vineyards alternate with woods, hazelnut groves, and fruit trees… Who wouldn't fall in love with this land? Luca went further, in agreement with Enrico and Alberto, two of his longtime friends, also involved in their own small wine ventures, he created the SoloRoero Association, founded on key principles such as: the exclusive cultivation of local varieties like Arneis and Nebbiolo, the use of sustainable practices based on the principles of organic farming as well as the secrets tightly held by grandparents, the interpretationof Arneis as a white for aging and not just for immediate drinking, always raising the flag of Roero, with beautiful wines and dance wines.

Valfaccenda is still small, today it counts 4 hectares of vineyard, sells few bottles, but in its small way it is able to represent a bright, positive, and shining light in this territory in a full revolutionary phase!
