Zibibbo Secco 'Jasmin' Firriato 2025
The Zibibbo "Jasmin" is a dry aromatic white wine that expresses the Mediterranean richness of the grape variety, here interpreted in terms of freshness, lightness, and immediacy. It has aromas of Mediterranean scrub, aromatic herbs, many white flowers, and sweet citrus fruits. The sip is slender, subtle, refreshing, savory, and easy to drink.
The Zibibbo Secco “Jasmin” by Firriato is a Sicilian wine produced with one of the oldest and most fascinating white grape varieties cultivated in the Mediterranean area: Zibibbo or Moscato d’Alessandria. It is a very versatile aromatic variety, suitable for the production of sweet wines, but today it is experiencing a period of great success with dry vinifications. Its delicate floral aromas, the fresh and fragrant fruity aromas, and its savory freshness make Zibibbo a wine very suitable to be enjoyed with seafood appetizers and shellfish. It is absolutely unbeatable with a dish of red shrimp from Mazara del Vallo.
“Jasmin” is a pure Zibibbo that originates in the Trapani area, the Sicilian cradle of this extraordinary aromatic grape. Although the Firriato winery was founded only in the 1980s, in just a few decades it has established itself as one of the most important realities on the entire island, contributing to the renaissance of Sicilian wine in the name of quality. Today the estate has land in various areas of Sicily, but the the original nucleus of the company is located in the countryside of Trapani. It is precisely on the clayey lands of the Tenuta Borgo Guarini that Zibibbo is cultivated. The splendid hilly area, located between 300 and 400 meters above sea level, is found in the deep inland of Trapani, towards the southern coast of the island. At the end of the soft pressing, the must is sent for fermentation in stainless steel tanks, lasting about three weeks. Before proceeding to bottling, the wine rests for a few months in steel tanks on the fine lees.
The Zibibbo Secco “Jasmin” by Firriato is a fresh and elegant aromatic white, with a delicate taste and very pleasant drinkability. In the glass, it has a bright straw-yellow color with slight greenish reflections. The bouquet expresses aromas of white flowers, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean scrub, citrus aromas, white-fleshed fruit, and tropical hints. The sip is agile and smooth, with a slender body and delicate, ripe fruit. The finish is pleasantly aromatic, with lively freshness and closure on savory notes.
