Callmewine's Favourites
Organic and biodynamicThe Rioja 'Crianza' Binario is a red wine made in Spain from Tempranillo, sourced from the first organically grown vineyards in Rioja, now over 25 years old. Aging in American and French barriques gives it softness and structure, as well as pleasant spicy, cinnamon and tobacco nuances that accompany the more typical notes of berries, cherry and plum. The palate is deep, enveloping, with a long and persistent finish. Try it in combination with red meat or game dishes
The sisters de Andrés of the wine project de Andrés Sisters introduce the Rioja Crianza ‘Binario’, a Tempranillo rich in fruity and spicy notes given both by the grape variety and by the passage in French and American oak barrels. Tempranillo represents one of the symbols of Spanish winemaking in the world, being the most cultivated variety in the country, somewhat like Sangiovese in Italy. There are many synonyms, including Tinto Fino in Ribera del Duero and Tinta de Toro in the Toro area. However, Rioja is its native land, where the wine obtained from this variety is traditionally aged in American oak, barrels to which it has always shown excellent affinity. The name derives from the Spanish term “temprano”, which means “early”, referring to the early ripening of the grape.
The Rioja ‘Binario’ Crianza by de Andrés Sisters is made from only Tempranillo grown under certified organic conditions in the warm Mediterranean climate of Rioja Baja, on clay and limestone soils. After the the harvest, the bunches are transferred to the winery and then crushed in stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously through the action of only indigenous yeasts at controlled temperature, accompanied by prolonged contact between the fermenting must and the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is transferred to American and French oak barrels for 12 months of aging before the final bottling.
The Crianza ‘Binario’ de Andrés Sisters Rioja has an intense ruby red color. Notes of blackberry, plum, and cherry characterize the nose along with hints of tobacco, cinnamon, and other spices. Soft, rich, and deep on the palate, with well-integrated tannins that lead to a persistent finish.
