The Aligoté from the Marsannay vigneron Sylvain Pataille is a brilliant white interpretation of Burgundy made from a blend of two different parcels. The aromatic profile has a citrus and fragrant stamp, with hints of candied lemons, quince, pineapple, herbs, and ginger. On the palate, it reveals vitality and a striking freshness, with a salty lift and refined mineral note.

The Bourgogne Aligoté is one of the most appreciated labels from Sylvain Pataille, a winemaker from Marsannay, the far northern part of the Côte de Nuits. It is a refined citrus and mineral white, a prized expression of the second most cultivated white grape variety in the region. Although overshadowed by the more famous Chardonnay, Aligoté has managed to maintain a decent distribution due to its early ripening and remarkable frost resistance, qualities that make its cultivation simpler compared to other grape varieties. However, if grown and processed properly, aiming for quality viticulture, Aligoté can yield great results, as demonstrated by this label from Sylvain.

Sylvain Pataille Bourgogne Aligoté AOC is a pure expression of the homonymous grape variety, grown on hills at an altitude between 200 and 300 meters. The grapes come from two different plots: one characterized by calcareous and pebbly soils, the other with clayey-marls and with vines of 50 years of average age. After manual harvesting, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation follows, carried out between steel and barrique without temperature control. The subsequent aging also takes place partly in steel tanks and partly in small oak barrels.

The Bourgogne Aligoté from Sylvain Pataille has a straw yellow color. On the nose, fresh sensations of lime, ginger, and lemon are perceived, combined with notes of white-fleshed fruit, tropical fruit, stone, and hints of herbs. A vertical and deep sip, defined by citrus freshness and refined saline texture. A great interpretation of the grape variety and the territory, the result of a producer who is helping to highlight the entire area of Marsannay.
